Private tuition at APguitar accommodates the beginner to advanced guitarist, covering Classical, Jazz, Blues, Country and Rock genres. The following section gives a basic outline of the topics covered for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Also, some recommended texts are listed along with information regarding hand outs, practice tracks and formal exams if desired. Please read and complete the application form to apply for private guitar tuition.

There are three main areas that have to be developed when learning any instrument: Knowledge of what to play, Technique for how to play it, and Application to real songs with exercises to practice and progress.

The following texts are recommended, (although not strictly required), particularly for beginner and intermediate students. This list is a guide only, and there are many different beginner guitar books on the market that serve the same purpose.

Hand Outs and Practice Tracks

Hand outs are provided for all chord shape diagrams, scale patterns, arpeggio shapes and intervals, however, for beginner level students the above texts are highly recommended.

A range of practice tracks are available on CD, to practice along to at home. 

 

Formal Exams

Formal examinations are not essential, however, they are useful in setting medium term goals and for evaluating progress.
